Corporate Overview Natural Resource Partners L.P. (NRP) is a master limited partnership principally engaged in the business of owning and managing coal properties in the three major coal producing regions of the United States: Appalachia, the Illinois Basin and the Western United States. The partnership does not actively engage in the mining of coal but rather leases its properties to coal mine operators in exchange for royalty payments. At December 31, 2005, NRP controlled approximately 2 billion tons of coal reserves. Approximately 90% of the reserves are located in Appalachia, 85% of the reserves are located in underground mines and 58% are considered low sulfur. The reserves are located on in eleven states and are subject to 176 leases with 67 lessees. Natural Resource Partners is headquartered in Houston, TX with a regional office in Huntington, WV. The partnership is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol NRP.
